Welcome to Kufstein, the “pearl” of Tyrol. Standing proudly and unmistakably on an angular hill, Kufstein Fortress attracts the attention of travelers. A shirt sleeve's length away from the striking Inn River, the well-kept old town with its pretty ensemble of houses nestles against the edge of the towering rock. At the top of the castle arena, the Kaiserturm tower offers an incredible 360° panorama of the Inn Valley and the mountain ranges rising on either side. An all-round sporty ambience to kick off this mountain bike tour.

From Kufstein Fortress to Lake Achensee, the “Sea of Tyrol”. In between, the Ackern Alm (1.400 m) and, after a rapid descent, the Guffert Hütte (1.465 m) needs to be climbed with impressive views.

Through the crown jewel of the Alps. After the steep ascent to the Plumsjoch (1.650 m), which is a revelation of technical riding skills, a wide gravel path leads to the alpine village of Eng (1.200 m). The route then leads from Großer Ahornboden to Kleiner Ahornboden and from there on to the majestically enthroned Karwendelhaus (1.770 m). The downhill to Scharnitz along the uniquely colorful Karwendelbach - a delight! The last few kilometers continue at a leisurely pace to the stage destination of Leutasch.

Visits to the Olympic regions of Seefeld and Innsbruck form the heart of this stage. In between, before and after, a fine mix of uphill and downhill sections on well-surfaced forest paths provides a pleasant balance to the two previous very sporty stages through the Karwendel massif.

Over the Rofan and the Brandenberg Alps back to the fortress town. The climbs to the shores of Lake Achensee (930 m) and to the Kögelalm (1.412 m) mark the main ascents of this final stage before returning to the starting point and destination of the tour - the “Pearl of Tyrol”.
