St. Moritz - Innsbruck
St. Moritz – Innsbruck
The Inn Bike Path

An artist, equipped with brush and colours, inspired from the impressionism, would need weeks for this tour.
Too multiplex would be the sensual impressions, too magnificently the panorama in the villages of the Engadin like Zernez, Susch and Lavin.

The Inn-bicycle path leads through outstanding landscapes: the wide Hochtal (valley) of the Oberengadin merges into the big forests of the Swiss National Park. Suddenly the scenery changes: the Austrian Bundesland Tyrol welcomes the bikers with warm hospitality.
The bike tour ends in Innsbruck; a stay in the Olympia city is one of the highlights of the Inn-bicycle path.

Features
Partly on bike paths, partly on wood and gravel paths. The stages are a little bit hilly, with two to three middle ascents and a lot of regular down hills. Also for children from the age of 12 (high amount of cycling enthusiasm required).

Bookable as individual single tour, 7 days / 6 nights or 8 days / 7 nights, approximately 225 kilometers. Dates for guided group tours on reques

Program

Day 1: Arrival in St Moritz
Individual arrival to St. Moritz – or to Innsbruck and by bus transfer to St. Moritz.
(only Friday! Registration required!)

Day 2: Loop tour St Moritz (approx. 45 km)
Enjoy the fascinating surrounding of St. Moritz. Undertake a lake-bike-tour in the direction of the Inn source. Variation 7/6: Arrival to St. Moritz. Notice: no transfer from Innsbruck on Saturday

Day 3: St. Moritz – Zernez (approx. 35 km)
You cycle via Samedan (Old Tower), La Punt (early gothic church San-Andrea with frescos) and Zuoz (window paintings in the church San Luzi) to Zernez. Afterwards you continue through the high valley of the Oberengadin. Zernez is the gate to the National Park.

Day 4: Zernez – Scuol (approx. 35 km)
First you go to Lavin, which preserves the character of an old mountain village. The name of the village Guarda (“Look!”) is based on the beautiful views. The aim of today’s stage is Scuol, with the experience bath “Bogn Engiadina” and the castle Tarasp, the majestic landmark of the Engadin.

Day 5: Scuol – Ried/Prutz (approx. 55 km)
From Scuol over Martina we will reach the boarder. Then we bike over Pfunds and Tösens to Ried. We follow the route course along the Inn; Finstermünzer Schlucht (gorge); town centres of Stuben and Pfunds/Tirol.

Day 6: Ried/Prutz – Imst (approx. 40 km)
Through the “Obere Gericht (Upper Court)” from Ried over Prutz down to Landeck (castle with museum, ruin Schrofenstein, Gerberbrücke – a showplace of the Tyrolean struggles for freedom). We pass the monastery Zams and through the saved Milser Au to Imst (town of the wells, lots of churches and chapels). Recommendation: Rosengartenschlucht (rose garden gorge)

Day 7: Imst – Innsbruck
(approx. 65 km)
There are smart, small villages on the Inn-bike-path. Cultural highlight of today’s stage is the Zisterzienserstrift Stams (collegiate church with rose grids). Numerous small churches and ruins are on the ascents of the Inn-valley. Along the Martinswand we come to Innsbruck with a very smart old town (golden roof, town tower, Hofburg, Hofgarten, and Helbinghaus). The bikes have to be returned.
